A Nutty Good-Bye

Today went pretty well. I have gotten so much done. I have another cooking story for you. Today when I finally had a break from all this running about and was trying to read a book, my mom called me into the kitchen and asked me to please make some banana bread (: the only thing that I can truly bake well and that my family will eat :) . She told me she had bought a new bag of walnuts and to make sure to add a lot so that the bread will have plenty of protein. Well, I added and mixed together everything before I started to crush my nuts. The recipe called for 1/3 cup of nuts per loaf (: I was making a triple batch :), after adding 3 cups of nuts I decided just to dump the whole bag in. Instead of just adding a half a cup more than the required dose I added about 3 1/2 extra cups of nuts. She said we needed protein. Well now the bread is not holding together. Oh well it tastes pretty good. This will be my last blog for a week and then I will inform you all about camp. Have a great beginning of August. And by the way, what is with everyone not blogging on their blogs? Well good bye. See you in a weeks time. God Bless.

Packing

Well, everything is going pretty well around here. We are still getting used to the new "Joben look". Mom and dad and Lydia have been running around from place to place so far today and David and Sarah have been at there friends. Dan is keeping himself busy. What have I been doing? Well, so far today I have been packing for camp. I decided not to take a duffel with me because I can never keep it neat and everything ends up everywhere. I am packing in my mom's very old, big brown suitcase ( you know the one that actually looks like a suit case). The bag is so big I can carry everything in it ( 2 towels, a sweatshirt, sandals, 2 pairs of jeans, linens for my bed - I am not bringing a sleeping bag. It is supposed to be in the 90's most of next week. -, etc...) . I could probably fit my pillows in it as well. Man, why can't they make things today like they did back then. It is so handy. Oh, I am so excited. Well, I got to go now. I'll write more later. God Bless.

The Cut

Yesterday my mom brought Joben over to the neighbor's to get a little trim around the ears and off the ends. Well my mom was over there for quite some time so I decided to go over and see if she wanted me to start dinner. When I got there a little boy came around the corner who I didn't recognize right away. THAT LITTLE BOY WAS JOBEN WITH LESS HAIR THAN HE WAS BORN WITH!!!! No longer does he have the "Beach Bum" look. There are no more little curls and man does he have the family forehead. He has the shortest hair in the house.

Pre-Camp Prep

Well, camp is a week away and I can't wait. I am going with my friend from school who has been there many times (:this is my first time going to this camp:). Today my mom took me to the Doc so that they could check on my ankle again ( the healing process is not going as fast as we hoped). Thankfully my Doctor was biased towards church camp and was raring for me to go. My ankle is still classified as injured and I have been band from doing my exercises until it is healed, then I am aloud to strengthen it. She gave me three choices of what to do for the time being ( she thinks the splint is not enough support by its self). These were my three choices: 1. Cast it and be on crutches for a week ( if I weren't going to camp we might of had to consider this, but thankfully I got out of that one) 2. put me in a boot ( we were leaning towards this one because it would keep me moblized and my ankle very supported, the problem is that at camp there is a lot of walking and the mess hall is up a hill. Also the boot is bulky and hot as well as heavy.) 3. Where the splint with a ace wrap underneath it and sleep in the ace wrap ( this is the one we are applying right now at the moment. It also means I always have to wear tennis shoes. And that leads to another little problem, and that is I need shoes that can fit this big contraption on my foot. Well we'll figure it out. )
tomorrow I am meeting with my friend about making lists for camp. (: she doesn't know it yet but I have to train her to be able to help me wrap my ankle up if need be:) This should be interesting.
I CAN'T WAIT FOR CAMP TO COME!!!!!

Life Goes On

Well, not much has been happening. Yesterday was pretty dull. Mom went shopping and everyone else just kind of laid low for the day, except for Sarah of course whose social life keeps her very active and not around much. Joben is better now, but dad has got the cold. The house is 76 degrees and dad insists that it is freezing and is wearing a sweat-shirt and keeps checking the theromostate while all of us are getting kind of warm.
I baby-sat this morning ( it took quite a lot of energy since I am the kids I watched favorite playmate). Afterwards my mom and sisters and I made a quick stop the store where we all got really cute purses that were on clarence. Afterwards I was so spent I spent the rest of the day in my bed reading and laid on the couch after cleaning the kitchen after dinner. This weekend has been rather quite. A nice break from all the hustle and bustle from the previous week and the week to come. More later. Have a wonderful Lord's Day everyone.

The Exciting World Of Discovery

Today Joben has been up to a lot. When I got home from babysitting he immediately came up to me and brought me to the broom closet where he pointed at the vacuum and said "VAK-ooom". After making this announcement he looked at me very proud of himself and continued to show me all the different parts of the VAK-ooom ( he has been into vacuums a lot lately for the past month and a half but being able to say what it is has made the whole thing look like a new Christmas present to him).
Joben has also succeeded in saying banana "Bamama" and now expects it to be displayed as soon as he utters this word.
One more hysterical thing happened today in the life of Joben. He has figured out that he can push his little cart on the tile while running. This is very funny to watch because you often see him being dragged behind the out-of-control cart. Today he was going so fast that he flipped the cart forward and wouldn't let go of the handle. My mom found him laying on top of the cart feet on one end, hands clutching the handle on the other end. I wish you could of been there it was hysterical. More later.

A Flop

Not much happened today. I was assigned to clean the kitchen, so I mopped it. I then went and barricaded myself downstairs at 10:50 a.m. where it is cumphy, cool, and quite. I stayed down there and read my book and took a little nap. I didn't come upstairs until 4:00 p.m. ! It was nice having a relaxing day and being a flop, although I have a lot of time for that it being the summer. Tonight I have to help watch the kids, because my mom has a meeting. Well, maybe more will happen tomorrow.

Cookie Fiasco

Today started rather early for me. I had to get up and get ready because my friend was arriving at 7:45 a.m. While she was here we tried to bake cookies (: I am one of the worst cooks in the world, if you didn't know that all ready:). My mom had found a recipe she thought might be good. Well everything started o.k. but it soon got very messy. I got a little mixed up with the measurements and was about to throw in a cup and a half of baking soda when my friend caught me and quickly took the measuring cup from my hand saying the recipe only called for 1 1/2 TEASPOONS! I was a little rumpled after that and my friend decided to take over the measurements. While she was doing so I decided I would start on the melting of the butter the recipe called for 3/4 cup of butter and we were making a triple batch so I had to multiply this by 3, not knowing that a stick of butter was 1/2 a cup, I assumed that it was a whole cup and quickly measured up 2 1/2 cups of butter. While I was preparing my butter for the micro, my friend looked over curiously to see what I was doing and noticed how little butter I had and glanced at the recipe to see if that was right. She sweetly told me that it wasn't 2 1/2 cups of butter but 4 1/2. That was only a few of my mistakes while cooking and if it weren't for my friend, I would probably be up to my ears in flour still. Well I can now say that the cookies are superb (: although on the sweet side since I accidentally added to much brown sugar:) since my friend took over most of the baking and I got to stir, although she took over that when I started to get a little messy. Oh well. It was a lot of fun. I guess I should work on my cooking skills a little bit more.

A day in the infirmary

Joben had a fever today so someone always had to be holding him or pushing him around in his stroller. I figured out the way to keep him from whining was to stroke his face with a finger and sing him a song but after doing this about five times it no longer worked. I think I must of read him his truck book at least fifty times and I wasn't the only one who was called to help; Dave, Dan and Dad also took their turns and Lydia helped entertain Joe whenever he had the energy to get down off our laps. Thankfully there wasn't many diapers to change. After today we're ready for anything. And by the way, my mom is a seasoned pro at this, it hardly fazed her a bit (except when Joe wouldn't take his naps).

From me to you

Hey, everyone!
This is my first time blogging (: although that is kind of obvious :). I have developed this blog so I can let all my loved ones know what is going on. I hope to post as often as I am able and don't be afraid to get on my back when I slack off. I am not one who knows a lot about computers so feel free if you have any tips to give me a shout. Thanks.
