Cookie Fiasco
Today started rather early for me. I had to get up and get ready because my friend was arriving at 7:45 a.m. While she was here we tried to bake cookies (: I am one of the worst cooks in the world, if you didn't know that all ready:). My mom had found a recipe she thought might be good. Well everything started o.k. but it soon got very messy. I got a little mixed up with the measurements and was about to throw in a cup and a half of baking soda when my friend caught me and quickly took the measuring cup from my hand saying the recipe only called for 1 1/2 TEASPOONS! I was a little rumpled after that and my friend decided to take over the measurements. While she was doing so I decided I would start on the melting of the butter the recipe called for 3/4 cup of butter and we were making a triple batch so I had to multiply this by 3, not knowing that a stick of butter was 1/2 a cup, I assumed that it was a whole cup and quickly measured up 2 1/2 cups of butter. While I was preparing my butter for the micro, my friend looked over curiously to see what I was doing and noticed how little butter I had and glanced at the recipe to see if that was right. She sweetly told me that it wasn't 2 1/2 cups of butter but 4 1/2. That was only a few of my mistakes while cooking and if it weren't for my friend, I would probably be up to my ears in flour still. Well I can now say that the cookies are superb (: although on the sweet side since I accidentally added to much brown sugar:) since my friend took over most of the baking and I got to stir, although she took over that when I started to get a little messy. Oh well. It was a lot of fun. I guess I should work on my cooking skills a little bit more.
